Energy Performance Certificates for Commercial & Industrial Property
Energy Inspection of Commercial & Industrial buildings by an Energy Assessor, using RdSAP & SAP assessment procedures commenced from 6 April 2008. Energy Surveyors will be required to inspect air conditioning systems and boilers within these buildings. Investors and occupiers will be able to compare the energy efficiency of buildings.
Commercial buildings which will be affected by the introduction of Commercial Energy Certificates these include:
- Shops
- Offices
- Retail Units
- Industrial Units Hotels
- New Build commercial units - SAP Assessors
- Rental Property
- Public Institutions
- Government Buildings
DEC - Display Energy Certificates will be required to be displayed in public buildings, they will display the buildings energy rating and usage.
These rules form part of the Energy Performance Of Buildings Directive (EPBD) which is an EU initiativewill and be introduced by all European member states by 2009. Energy certification in the UK is introduced as Part L of the Building Regulations.
